PROJECTS BY WELLBEE

Wellbee remains steadfast in helping eradicate poverty by supporting sustainable development for the vulnerable population in Cameroon. This commitment to our advocacy enabled our organization to launch successful programs that empower communities and all our stakeholders. Wellbee has a number of projects which are in the planning phase of implementation in our local communities in Cameroon. We request your support to make these projects a reality. Details of our projects are highlighted below.

Project 1

SWAG

SKILLS FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS (S.W.A.G)

Over 39% of the national population of Cameroon lives below the poverty line. This rate rises to 51.5% for women and 79.2% of them are unemployed and underemployed. The rate of adolescent girls giving birth to a child is 105.8 per 1000. This has largely been attributed to rural poverty since majority of Cameroons poor, live in rural areas.

Project SWAG wishes to use the skill acquisition model to attempt to change these disheartening statistics. Skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development has proven to be a life changing model. The philosophy here is to create a pool of capable and well trained girls and young women in the establishment of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises –SMEs to grow the economy of the country starting from their families and rural communities.

We understand that empowering girls and young women is an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty. This is because empowered girls contribute to the health and productivity of whole families and communities and to improved prospects for the next generation.

Project 2

youth

WELLBEE YOUTH RESOURCE AND COUNSELLING CENTER

The nonprofit youth resource and counseling center project with a toll-free hotline is an initiative aimed at providing support, guidance, and resources to young people who may be facing challenges or struggles in their lives. This includes support for young people especially young women facing intimate partner violence.

This project involves the establishment of a physical center where young people can come for in-person counseling sessions, workshops, and other forms of support. In addition, the project also includes a toll-free hotline that young people can call for free, confidential counseling and advice.

Project 3

agriculture

WELLBEE PROCESSING, PACKAGING AND FINANCING FOR AGRICULTURE PROJECT

Research has shown that agriculture is the mainstay of Cameroon’s economy, engaging an estimated 70 percent of the economically active population and accounting for an estimated 80 percent of the primary sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP. It also provides 1/3 of foreign exchange earnings and 15 percent of the country’s budgetary resources. Despite this enormous potential, agriculture in Cameroon faces a plethora of challenges, thus compromising the country’s capacity to sufficiently nourish its expanding food needs. For projects, please remove the last sentence in the narrative for the agriculture project and replace it with this sentence.

As an organization focused on improving the wellbeing of the rural poor, we are interested in presenting innovative opportunities that will enable farmers in rural Cameroon to harness the largely untapped potentials in food processing and packaging and create more wealth and sustainable livelihoods for the rural populace.
